What is the 5K Green Run?
The 5K Green Run is a non-profit charity run to raise money for the environmental foundations Greenpeace and the World Wildlife Fund. It is a locally funded run to get people more involved in exercise and to educate the community about the benefits of being environmentally friendly.
Why is the green run different?
The green run allows runners and volunteers to participate in a fun (and wet) 5k run while providing money for worthwhile environmental charity groups. The Green run isn't just any 5k run because volunteers along the race course will be ready to ambush runners with water guns to keep everyone cool and to have more fun!
Also, instead of trophies, the top runners will be given gift cards to local sporting companies in Yuma!

What's the Race Course Like?
The course will start at the Gateway Park, just off of Interstate 8, and will wind its way under the bridge and into the East Wetlands Park. The course will start off on concrete, but will quickly become a dirt path, traveling through trees and over bridges. It will continue along the Colorado River until runners reach the halfway point. There, volunteers will pass out cups of water and runners will turn around and retrace the path until they finish back at the Gateway Park.
Who can Participate?
Anyone can run in the Green Run, including your fluffy canines! Get a group of friends together to make it more enjoyable or just run solo. Also, kids aged 12 and under are free, so bring your whole family! If you're not into running, you can volunteer instead. Volunteers will either pass out water at checkpoints, spray water guns, or time runners.
Register on-line or on race day
You can register for the Green Run on-line for $25 or at the event for $35 (with cash or checks only). By registering you will get a Green Run 100% cotton, kelly green t-shirt, coupons, a bracelet and water. You will be able to pick up all of your goodies on race day.
